Good world building (even though if you have read Xianxia stories you will expect a few obvious stuff, the world building is still pretty good concerning all the factions.) Fights that do not go through dozens of chapters. If the author was more consistent it would be one of my favorite xianxia. The MC is pretty good, the villains are pretty good, the heroines and side characters are pretty good. I could kind of doublethink my way through it and just enjoy it with the retcons but if that’s a problem for you maybe don’t read it. Also, don’t even bother with the math to see if the star crystals he uses add up to the amount the author said he had. He very often forgets something he wrote in a previous chapter, and it feels like minor things get retconned all the time. My biggest gripe with Star Odyssey is that the author is extremely inconsistent. I just wish he’d move some of the relationships along a bit faster. Romantic progression is a bit too slow for me, but it’s not to the point where I can’t read it. Once you get into it it’ll keep you occupied for a long time. The chapters are long, and there are a lot of them.
It does get to be a lot of names though, which can sometimes be a bit confusing. Characters aren’t disposable tools to make the MC look better, they actually have motivations and growth even off-screen. Something I really like is how the side characters are brought back. The power scaling is not too absurdly fast, and the MC actually faces. He doesn’t try to help everyone all the time, but he also generally tries not to hurt innocent people, and protects his friends. He’s very determined and focused, but also human he has romantic interests, holds grudges sometimes but also forgives people sometimes. The MC is OP, but not to the point where he wins everything easily all the time.
For a Chinese cultivation novel, this is actually pretty decent, which is why it’s at a 4/5.
